Hal's office doesn't open at the crack of dawn, so I can't usually have my first cuppa joe there. It's not a huge space, there are tables out front as well as a parklet. They have some pastries to pair with beverages.Thing is; it's not the fastest cup or the cheapest, but they actually give a damn and do it right! So I go there around 7:45, and have a cup of coffee so good I consider it a reward. Maybe I see you there!
MoreIf you want a douchey millennial hipster to be rude and condescending to you and overcharge you for mediocre and lukewarm coffee, boy have you found your spot!!!
MoreGreat service. Cozy, friendly place.
Good quality Cappuccino
Pretty good coffee and great outdoor seating area. Perfect on a sunny morning.
great coffee, perfect meeting spot.
Excellent espresso. Super nice people. And thank you for the awesome coffee cake! What a great experience.
MorePhenomenal coffee and sweet staff. Try the oatmilk chai latte! It's delicious!
Best coffee in the east bay! Super friendly and fast service too. I get coffee to go there a few times a week m
MoreReally unique as the name of the coffee shop, although space is too tight. Love the quality of coffee❗
MoreMy favorite neighborhood coffee shop. Great place to read in the sun in the morning. They're always playing good music!
MoreReally excellent coffee, nice staff, great outdoor seating.
Love counter culture coffee beans! Kind of a small shop but very cozy and the drinks are top notch
MoreGreat addition to neighborhood, much better for a long sit and getting work done than other local places. Good wifi, great design, good but somewhat overpriced coffee. Parklet coming soon right outside.
MoreI love this shop, everyone is so nice and the coffee is very good. The pastries are very rich and they seem to have things other places don't!
MoreIce lattes are pretty good but everything else is mediocre. Staff is pretty stuck up and the service is frequently slow
MoreWhat a great place! Awesome staff. Great tunes.
Latte art was really nice!!! Latte was pretty good!!!
Stopped for a quick cuppa joe and found both the staff and coffee were very nice. I will return to try some more of their specialties.
MoreGreat location, drinks and scones
They just opened today. I had an excellent muffin. Friendly staff. Very clean. They are still getting set up but they seem poised to do well.
MoreOverall pretty good coffee. I review things from a remote work perspective. Unfortunately from what I could find, there were no outlets whatsoever. Also their internet is totally public so just surf safe. The shop itself is quite small but when I went still a few seats available. The vibe is quite nice though. If you’re just coming for coffee, still a great place to swing by as there is plenty of outdoor seating.
MoreIt is always a great place to have breakfast
Great atmosphere, great coffee, great neighborhood
I was over the moon when Hal's opened, I go there at least once a week, really nice espresso and the baristas know how to steam almond milk properly.
MoreCharming little coffee shop that makes some of the best latte I have ever had. Now to make it even better, a cute little parklet is opened right in front of it. I can imagine coming here on a warm summer day, sipping coffee and enjoying the weather!
MoreI like the Earliest Grey tea and the employees and I like the hot chocolate 😁😃
MorePretty chill! Good pastries, good coffee and Thai! Good outdoor seating. Very friendly staff.
MoreThis is a wonderful addition to the neighborhood. The coffee (Counter Culture) is great, the staff is incredibly nice, and the baked goods are from Firebrand Artisan Breads. There are only a few places to sit, but there is usually space inside or in front, in the sun.
MoreA really good cup.
I was in the area on Superbowl Sunday and since I'm hardly ever in Albany, I decided to take advantage and grab some coffee. I came into Hal's after having lunch and was surprised to see the amount of people working on their laptops. It's not a big space so it seems like it can get small quick, but it's so charming. I see why there were a number of people in there. I ordered a mocha (like I do at a cafe I haven't been to yet) with oat milk. I didn't have to wait long for it and it was delicious. I loved it. I want to make it a point to come back here because it's a really nice spot with a nice staff and great coffee.
MoreSome of the best coffee in the area. Their teas and ice tea lemonade are really good too. Their roast is fantastic and they sell and grind it in the shop for you if you want to take some home. Seating is limited and there are very few outlets (maybe 1?). There is additional bench seating and standing bars outside. It's pretty busy most of the time so not the best place to go if you need to work. It's more of a hangout and chat or grab and go environment. Beautifully designed interior/aesthetic. The service is hit or miss but mostly a miss lol. A few bariatas are OK but they overall tend to be noncommunicative/don't like to answer questions. I'm not a talker so it's always funny to me when they don't want to answer my Y/N questions. Regardless I'll still go there because the coffee is good.
MoreThis is pleasant cafe, coffee made to taste delicious, friendly staff. Sit outside, if you like.
MoreCozy neighborhood coffee shop serving great drinks and baked goods. Fairly limited seating but they are working on having more outdoor seating at the moment.
MoreCoffee tasted a little off, but wasn’t bad. Service was friendly.
I love Hal's office! It's my go to coffee stop. It's very cozy, but they have a beautiful parklet outside along with a few tables. Their simple menu makes ordering a breeze and their homemade chai is 🙌. The current climate has been a challenge for many small businesses and Hal's is handling it very well. The wait is a little longer and the ambiance isn't quite the same, but it's still my favorite place for a cappuccino and a friendly "hello".
MoreExcellence. So glad I found you!!
Excellent! Well worth the 14 mile round trip just for a capuchino.
Don't know what the hype is all about, maybe the barista knew I was not a regular so I didn't get the customer service that everyone mentioned. My hot drip coffee was almost cold. Sorry but I won't be going back
MoreGreat latte. Great pastries. I love the outdoor seating area.
Cool little local joint. Good coffee, good vibes, and different milk options too!
MoreRecently opened a parklet. Small cafe but the seating outside is lovely. Yummy prezels and of course coffee.
MoreFriendliest service, limited but tasty selection of pastries, and good coffee prepared with TLC. Limited indoor and outdoor seating. And maybe one day soon, an outdoor parklet in front!
MoreGood latte. Not the cheapest.
Nice spot for a quick quality cap, firebrand pastries are a nice bonus too.
Clean place with a friendly atmosphere. Well made espresso drinks made with Counter Culture coffee. Really good pastries.
MoreExcellent coffee and pasteries in this Albany institution. Just a great spot for a coffee and a break on Solano Ave. The barrista is friendly and the vibe good. Not much space inside but with tables outside and the public parkette right there you can linger. Enjoy it!
MoreMy latte was delicious, the staff seemed a little off, but I’m giving the benefit of the doubt and bumping my review up to four stars since it was pretty early the morning after Christmas.
MoreGreat coffee and outdoor seating.
Tiny cafe, great vibe
